The Big 30!

This is the cake that I made for my hubby when he turned 30. He loves fireworks. In fact the 4th of July is his 3rd favorite holiday (he numbers them, isn't that cute?) So we went with a fireworks cake to mark the big day.As you can see, most of it was just fun cake toppers I found at Party America.

In Honor of my Mickey Mouse Nut

My Daughter loves Mickey Mouse. So for her 3rd birthday we made her a Mickey and friends cake.I made it two layers so that she and her friends could eat the bottom layer during her birthday party. And we ate the top layer with Daddy when he came home from work that night. It was so easy. I just make a cute two layer cake and added some Mickey and Friends figures from the Disney store. She loved it!

Go Utes!

I'm not really a fan, but my husband sure is. The University of Utah had a great Football season this year. In honor of that I post my U of U cake. It is a simple white frosted cake with melted chocolate drum and feather. ( I used the Wilton candy melts and then just melted them and made the shapes I wanted. It was a bit like painting.) I held the feather up with three white frosted cup cakes. So for my husband and all Ute fans out there. GO UTES!!

Here's another fun kids cake. I made this for my two year old. We took our kids for Disneyland for their birthday's that year so everyone had a amusement park themed cake. This one turned out really well. My poor four year old's looked awful. Anyway, this one is a carousel. She loved it.
We bought the carousel kit from Wilton and it was very easy to put it all together. The top is just a nine inch circle cake with star tip frosting. The bottom is a two-layer eight inch cake.

One of many princess cakes.

My oldest daughter is into every princess there is. Not only Disney, although lets face it folks, they have a lot of princesses to love, but now she's getting into the Barbie princess movies as well. So we have done many princess cakes. This is one of my favorites.
It's Disney's Little Mermaid. I used the Wilton Wonder Cake Pan (I really like that cake pan) and an Ariel doll we purchased at Wal-Mart I think. We wanted to add Sebastian and Flouder, so I printed them on card stock and covered them with packaging tape so the frosting wouldn't destory them. It worked great.

For us Grown Ups

I made this cake for a birthday of a friend of mine. I can't take the credit for the design as it is from the Wilton Class book. I did change it a bit though, I made it oval instead of round.

Another Halloween Cake

This one I made for a little party we had. I wanted it to be a witch theme becuase we had 9 little girls coming to the party. So I made the cake with a witch hat on top.

The hat is a mini wonder cake pan by Wilton. I just frosted it to a tip on top and decoraded it with stars and moons for the witch look. The frosting color was a little off, but since it was for a witch it worked okay.

Easy but cute Halloween cakes

So last year I needed to make 6 cakes for a party my girls were invited to. I decided to make them all one layer six inch cakes since they were going to be awards for the kids at the party. Here is what I ended up with. For the ghosts I just used blue frosting for the background and then used a ghost cookie cutter and pressed it into the blue frosting. I used a small star tip to fill it in. For the Jack-o-lanterns I used orange background and then free-handed the face with a small star tip and added a small green stem on top with a large star tip. Simple right! Happy Haunting!

Another fun cake.

So here is another cake I made the same day as the Monster cake. My younger brothers are twins and are always sharing a cake. I decided to let them both have their own that year since we had a lot of people there to celebrate. This one is a hamburger. Cute, but the Monster tasted better. I love frosting.

Here's how it's done. I made two 8 inch yellow cakes and didn't frost them. Then I made a nine inch for the center and frosted it with chocolate frosting and then stuck broken chocolate cookies to the side. I used green, read and yellow frosting on top of the 9 inch layer for the condiments. And a bit of white frosting for the sesame seeds on top. And there you go, a yummy hamburger cake.

My Favorite Cake..today

Welcome to my cake blog. I will be posting my cakes here. I like to make cakes for my family and friends. This is a cake I made for my brother last year. It is one of my favorite cakes. I made it with a Wilton Wonder pan. I used my star tip for the "hair" and placed my monster on the Wilton feet cake stand. It was a very cute and yummy cake for my family. Try it, they'll love it.
