Father's Day Cakes
I saw these on Bakerella so can't take credit for them. I totally fell in love with them and made some for my husband for his Father's Day treat. They are little slider cupcakes with a side of cookie french fries. So fun!

Wizard of Oz
I am so happy that my older girls seem to finally be getting out of the princess stage. It's not that I don't love princesses, it's just that it gets old really quick. So this year my four year old wanted the Wizard of Oz for her birthday cake. Here's what she got.
I must say it won't have turned out half as cute if I didn't have the little figurines made by barbie just in time for her birthday. I found them at Wal-Mart and they worked out perfectly.

Birthday cake
Wow, its been awhile since my last post. Opps, sorry. So here is one of the cakes I made last month. It was for my daughter who was turning six.
She wanted a Strawberry Shortcake cake, but all the ones I had seen were totally boring white sheet cake with a figure on top. Not my style. So I came up with this idea.
The hat band is made out of Airheads (the candy) and the strawberry in front, out of Starbursts. Everything else is frosting folks and it was gooo-ood.

Class Cupcakes
My oldest daughter is now in kindergarten. Among other things, this means that now we are obligated to bring cupcakes to her classmates on her birthday. It was a lot of fun. My daughter mixed up the cake mix and helped me make the cupcakes. She loved feeling like she made them all on her own.
We made 24 swimming bears cupcakes. She saw these cupcakes in a magazine and had to have them. They were so easy!! We frosted them blue and added the bears floating on fruit by the foot or in a gummy lifesaver. We found the fish at a candy store. Everyone in her class loved them.

Another cake that didn't turn out excatly right.
My wonderful husband told a group of friends at work that I would make a cake for them. He told them I make great cakes and talked it up quite a bit. So I started making this cake and it went horribly wrong. The bottom layer cracked and wouldn't hold the top layer. The top layer kept sliding off. Then I ran out of frosting. It was such a pain. So I ended up getting some candy and chocolate frosting from the grocery store and here's what we ended up with.
It looked a lot worse before the "grocery store fixes" I just wished it could have looked better since my husband had talked it up so much. I'm sure his co-workers were thinking "This is it?" There is always next time I suppose.

A Smurfs Cake
See I do cakes for adults too.
What you don't think that this is an adult cake?? Well, I made it for my sister who is a grown up! She never had a really fun cake so I decided to go all out for her this year.
This cake is a mushroom house with three little smurfs peaking out of the windows. It was fun to make, but very time consuming. I covered it all in Marshmallow fondant for that nice clean look. Then I put it on my feet cake stand to add just a little more whimsy. Happy Birthday Big Sister!

Clown Cake
It's true, I love to do kids cakes. Here's why:
You just can't beat that smile can you? This cutie was having a clown party and his favorite colors are orange and blue, so here you go. One of the first things I learned in my cake decorating class I took years ago was how to make clowns. I haven't done it since. It came right back to me though and it was worth the smile I got from my cute nephew when I was done.
Made with simple round cakes and the clown heads from Wilton. (I do buy a lot of Wilton stuff don't I?)
