Go Utes!

I'm not really a fan, but my husband sure is. The University of Utah had a great Football season this year. In honor of that I post my U of U cake. It is a simple white frosted cake with melted chocolate drum and feather. ( I used the Wilton candy melts and then just melted them and made the shapes I wanted. It was a bit like painting.) I held the feather up with three white frosted cup cakes. So for my husband and all Ute fans out there. GO UTES!!

Here's another fun kids cake. I made this for my two year old. We took our kids for Disneyland for their birthday's that year so everyone had a amusement park themed cake. This one turned out really well. My poor four year old's looked awful. Anyway, this one is a carousel. She loved it.
We bought the carousel kit from Wilton and it was very easy to put it all together. The top is just a nine inch circle cake with star tip frosting. The bottom is a two-layer eight inch cake.

One of many princess cakes.

My oldest daughter is into every princess there is. Not only Disney, although lets face it folks, they have a lot of princesses to love, but now she's getting into the Barbie princess movies as well. So we have done many princess cakes. This is one of my favorites.
It's Disney's Little Mermaid. I used the Wilton Wonder Cake Pan (I really like that cake pan) and an Ariel doll we purchased at Wal-Mart I think. We wanted to add Sebastian and Flouder, so I printed them on card stock and covered them with packaging tape so the frosting wouldn't destory them. It worked great.

For us Grown Ups

I made this cake for a birthday of a friend of mine. I can't take the credit for the design as it is from the Wilton Class book. I did change it a bit though, I made it oval instead of round.
